Highways and Transportation Estimates Statistics
The latest data for the 2010-11 Highways Estimates are now available for England and Wales.
The 2010-11 statistics reveal that it is estimated that local authorities in England and Wales will spend £47 million (1%) less when compared the net cost of the highways and transportation service in 2009-10. As with previous years the largest expenditure is spent on public transport and general maintenance of local authority roads. Regarding the latter, the statistics show that the cost of maintaining local authority roads in 2010-11 will be £7,329 per km of road.
